Dear 6th Grader and Family,

Congratulations...you made it!  Welcome to 6th grade! Get ready to make your mark!  I hope you are as excited as I am to get this new school year started.  I am thrilled to be your homeroom, Science and Math teacher, and look forward to a fun and productive year together.  Be ready to bring your “A” game.  As a 6th grade student you will have many expectations and responsibilities.

As this is my first year at St Athanasius,I want to share a few things about myself.  I am originally from Trinidad (in the Caribbean), where I taught for 18+ years.  I recently migrated to the US to be with my husband and son. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish  and Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of the West Indies.

Teaching has forever been my heart, and I am passionate for the education of our youth.  I value your input, and I thank you in advance for your support during this exciting school year.

In my classroom, I work hard to promote a tight-knit community.  I believe in a safe environment and I work hard all year long building a classroom that encourages creative thinking, respect, trust, and a sense of ownership among students.  I truly understand the enormous task that I am faced with and its  responsibility and the rewards.  I also believe that parents, teacher, and students must work as a team to achieve our highest potential.

I am hoping to see you at Back to School Night, so that we could begin our 6th grade journey together. I have attached the schedule for Tuesday September 3rd 2019. Please come prepared! You are welcome to send me an email with your concerns and questions at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

See you soon

Sincerely,

Mrs. Vidale
