Teacher Biography

Mrs. Ward

First Grade Motto: First Graders are OWLS:

Outstanding, Wonderful, Learners

Hello My name is Mrs. Ward (A.K.A. Miss Jodi) I have been a teacher for 20 years. I graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.  I began my teaching career in the public school system. I taught there for 2 years. I decided to leave public school and began a new chapter in my professional teaching in Catholic school.  I became the full time substitute for the first grade class at St. Athanasius and now, 18 years later I am still the first grade teacher. (Time flies when you love what you do!) I feel it was God's plan for me to become the first grade teacher at St. A's and mold such beautiful young minds.  I teach Religion, Reading, Spelling, Phonics, Writing, Math, Science and Social Studies.  The students in my class learn through routines, procedures, and a variety of teaching techniques that can reach all students' learning styles.

Some of my favorites so you may get to know me better:

Favorite Types of Movies; Romantic Comedies and Sports Related

Favorite Movie: A League of Their Own

Favorite Sitcom: Friends

Favorite Music: I love Motown and Country music

Favorite Band: Florida Georgia Line (Country band)

Favorite Singer: Elvis Presley( I've been to Graceland and it was awesome!) Garth Brooks (Country singer).

Favorite Hobby: Watching reruns of the sitcom Friends with my husband Eric and baking!

Favorite Food: Pizza and French fries

Favorite Animal: Lion and an Owl

Favorite Color: Green

I like the Philadelphia Sports teams especially the Phillies and Flyers. I have found a new likeness for football and yes, my favorite football team is of course the Eagles! Which makes my husband happy, he loves the Eagles! I like to travel and see new places and experience new things.

I am blessed with a wonderful husband, parents, 1 older brother, and a sister-in-law who have two terrific kids, my niece Emilee and nephew DJ.
