Teacher Biography

Mr. Coey

Hello! My name is Mr. Charles Coey. I am the math, science, and religion teacher for the 7th and 8th grades. I am still very new to teaching middle school students, but I do have several years experience teaching at the college level.

I struggled learning math when I was in middle and high school. Then, thanks to good teachers, I started to really understand and enjoy it. I volunteered as a math tutor and discovered the joy of teaching. So, I have a lot of empathy for students who struggle, and I want to help them see they can overcome those challenges!

I am privileged to be here teaching your children at St. A's. I am very happy to speak with you about their progress and performance, or if you have any questions or concerns at all. Please write me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. I will try to respond within 24 hours at the most.

God bless you and your family!

Class News

March 16th, 2026

The week of TerraNova tests is finally here! The tests begin this Wednesday, March 18th, and run until the following Wednesday, March 25th.

We are now in the third trimester of the year as well. Report cards will be distributed on March 26th. The 7th grade will get theirs the day before, to accommodate for their high school visitation day on the 26th.

7th Grade News:

  • All the focus this week is on providing the students a good testing environment. We will review in the afternoons when testing is over, but I will not teach any new material.
  • Please make sure that your student is getting good rest each evening and eating a breakfast in the morning. These things can help significantly with their focus and thinking.

8th Grade News:

  • In Math, we will continue learning about systems of linear equations this week. We had a quiz last Thursday, and will probably have a test next Friday.
  • In Science, we had a test on speed and acceleration last week, so we will move on to learning about force and Newton's Laws.
  • In Religion, we finished our section on Church history, and have moved on to learning about the "liturgy" of the Church - the work of the Church in our modern world.

Parent Resources:

I have been trying to find the best way to keep track and share the work that I assign to the students. I have decided that Google Classroom is the best option. All of the students work is posted to Google Classroom at the beginning of the week. You can look at your students' Classrooms to see all of their work, or I can give you your own access. Please email me with any questions.
